WHY DO N&N MEET MOSTLY IN HOMES?
Have you ever asked yourself what the church actually is? It is more than a building at the end of your street or the place you visit on a Sunday. In its simplest form the church can be described as any group of people joined together with Jesus Christ as their focus – a Christ Centred Community.
In this context you can see that the size, structure or format of a church congregation is less important than the values and vision of the group – it is more about why people meet together than how they meet. Faith, belonging and transformation are just a few of the characteristics that help Neighbours and Nations define church life together.
What happens in the Neighbours & Nations meetings?
The home-based church gatherings are open, informal times and often include eating a meal together. Visitors are always welcome to join in the group activities, which include prayer, worship and reading from the bible. These are done in a way that is authentic and meaningful. So many people are finding it actually transforms lives!
At other times the meetings together are purely social and focus on friendship and fun. These may take place in a home or down the pub, at a coffee shop or perhaps even up a mountain at the weekend (depending on how adventurous people feel after a hard weeks work)!
Did you know? This small group setting was a common way the very first members of the early church met together all those centuries ago and is a format that is growing in popularity across the world today.
Do Neighbours & Nations only meet in small groups?
As part of Neighbours & Nations, each individual home-based church comes together regularly for a joint celebratory time of worship, bible teaching and prayer. When the small groups come together, it gives a greater sense of the big picture of what is happening across the city.
Since people are learning to relate to God each day in every part of their life, you will often find meetings are punctuated with real life stories of what God has done for someone. These range from talking about help through a difficult situation to the miraculous healing of illnesses. This is a great way for those interested in finding out more about what it is like living as a Christian and always an encouragement to everyone involved. If you are curious to find out more, you would be more than welcome to come along and join in any time. |
